DESIGNER
ROLE OF THE PROFESSIONAL
Designers are professionals who design fashion collections for companies and style studios. They are highly-qualified workers able to manage style research according to the continued evolution of fashion.
Designers are "creators of fashion" and have to be technicians before artists. They have to absorb information about new trends, developing them in a project made up of materials, fashion-plates and data sheets in line with the product to be realised.
THE COURSE
Participants: :

Those who already work in the fashion industry and want to broaden their knowledge, also to give life to a new line of products;

Young school leavers and graduates who wish to approach the world of fashion with a practical training that will allow them to acquire fundamental knowledge about the industry.
Training objectives: at the end of the course, students will be able to design collections aimed at precise market brackets and will have the know-how to permit client companies to distinguish themselves and increase sales.
Course length: 162 hours.
Attendance: one or more lessons each week, during the day or in the evening, from Monday to Saturday
(the days and times will be agreed on the basis of the students' needs).
General Programme:
- Graphics part: the female form- proportion- movement;
- Graphics part: colour, theory and technique;
- Technical-Graphics part: representation of clothing funtions - the design details;
- Theoretical-Technical part: study of marketable textiles;
- Theoretical part: History of the costume in the Twentieth Century;
- Theoretical-Design part: the company, the designer, the collection in all its stages;

Certificate: at the end of the course, students will be admitted to a final exam, and if they pass, will receive a certificate qualifying them as “Designers”.
Teachers:professionals of proven ability and experience in the sector.
Course materials: texts and handouts edited by the Istituti Callegari (publications not on sale), accessories.
Course location: Milan, Rome, Palermo.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Professionals trained with the Istituti Callegari Designer course will be able to work:
- in companies active in the clothing and dress-making fields;
- in fashion studios;
- as freelance workers.
